 History:

Mount Bethany Tabernacle had its first meeting in 1941 and was incorporated in 1944. The church was located at 638 Sullivant Avenue and James Whitt was the first pastor. There was an existing two-story house that was connected to the church building. Sunday School classes for the children were held in the house because the church building had no classrooms. On Sunday morning, following a short devotion service in the main building, the children marched out through the connecting walkway and into the house for their classes, and then returned for the morning worship service.

Mount Bethany was a member of the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ Organization at that time.

Holman Cox, from Texas, became the next pastor. He resigned in 1950. At that time, Paul Kiner became pastor. His wife, Margaret, and daughter, Barbara, worked with him diligently. Under his leadership, the church purchased a former Church of Christ in Christian Union Church, located at 1173-1175 Essex Avenue, at the corner of Cleveland and Essex Avenues.

At that time, the name of the church was changed to The Christian Apostolic Church.

On June 8, 1968, ground was broken on land that had been purchased at 4065 Kenny Road, and the Christian Apostolic Church was built. When the lot was purchased, there was an old house there. The house was used for Wednesday night prayer service, Sunday night services and youth group meetings. The living room and kitchen were filled to capacity every service. The young people pretty much filled up the kitchen. Vacation Bible School was also held in the old house. Sunday School was held at Winterset Elementary School in Upper Arlington.

Finally, the new building was completed and they moved into the building late in 1969. In 1970, after being in the new building a very short time, Pastor Paul Kiner passed away, leaving his widow, Margaret, who continued to attend Christian Apostolic and labor there faithfully until her death, December 27, 1997.

Frank Campbell became pastor in 1970 and served until April 14, 1972. The Christian Apostolic Church joined the United Pentecostal Church, International in 1972.

In August of 1972, John Abbott, from Canada, came to the Christian Apostolic Church and acted as pastor. Due to health problems after he came, he would not allow the church to elect him as their pastor. Robert Scyoc was pastor from May 11, 1973 until March 18, 1975. George Chambers was interim pastor from that time until October 15, 1975, when Donald Ball was installed as pastor.

Under Pastor Ball’s leadership, a new section was added onto the church building. This section included two Sunday School classrooms and a large fellowship hall. The former fellowship hall was remodeled and converted into three more Sunday School classrooms. Pastor Ball retired for health reasons on November 11, 2002 after 27 years of faithful service.

Mark Meyer was elected as pastor on January 19, 2003. A 5 acre plot of land at 3850 Summit View in Dublin, OH was purchased by the church in 2007. In May 2008 the property at 4065 Kenny Road was sold and the church name was changed to Grace Point Sanctuary.  We began construction on our new building in December 2008 and moved into our new facility in November 2009.
